Have you already finalized a Newark office space for your business?  It’s pretty exciting to start up a business and get your first office space.  But it can also be equally exciting to move spaces, especially if you’re moving into a place that’s bigger and better than the previous one.  Many companies move because they’ve expanded too much to fit into their old space.  So they often have to move their things from the old space to the new one.  Here are a few tips to keep in mind when moving:

1. You don’t have to do it all at once.

It may be tempting to get all your moving done on one day.  However, depending on the size of your office, this may not be practical.  If you have a small office with just two people, you could possibly do everything on one day.  However, if your offices are bigger, you might want to move them section by section.  You could try moving the marketing department on one day, the accounting department on another and so on.  It’s really important to stay organized while moving things so that you don’t end up in a work space without the things that you need.  If half the computers needed for work have been moved but the other half are still in the old space, you’ll end up losing quite a few productive days.

2. Throw out things you don’t need.

As offices grow, more and more stuff gets added to the work space.  At different points of time, you may have ordered new furniture, new computers, new artwork, new couches, a new microwave etc.  However, you need to assess the state of these things before you move them.  It’s possible that that couch looked great when it first came in but if it’s really ratty now, then why take the trouble of moving it?  Wouldn’t it make more sense to get something new after you move?  By going through all your things, you’ll make sure that you get rid of old, unused things and keep only the good stuff.

3. Visualize your new interiors.

Before you start moving things in, you should have an idea of where exactly they’re going to go.  So take a minute, while your new space is still empty and try to visualize exactly how you want things to look.  You may find that you want your new office to pretty much replicate your old office.  Or you may find that you want it to look completely different.  Most of the time, people go with something in the middle.  They try to use the things they already have but also get a few new things that will give the new place that feeling of newness.  Depending on what you decide to do, you can move the things you need and leave the rest behind.
